Meet The Medicines

Ayahuasca

also known as Yagé, is a traditional entheogenic beverage

Used by different cultures of the Amazon rainforest for hundreds of years. Its purpose is to heal the body, mind, and spirit, and is a profound tool for self-discovery. During an Ayahuasca ceremony, the Shaman builds a strong connection between the medicine and the participant to support them and their intentions.‌The word Ayahuasca comes from the Quechua language. “Aya” means “spirit” or “death”, and Huasca means, “rope”, “cord” or “vine”. In the Cosmo Vision of the indigenous Amazonian people, Ayahuasca is the rope that allows the spirit to leave the body without the body dying, but letting die everything we no longer need.‌The brew is composed of two plants. Their scientific names are Banisteriopsis caapi (the vine) and Psychotria viridis, also known as Chacruna (the leaf). Chacruna contains Dimethyltryptamine (DMT), a natural compound found in plants, animals, and humans. Ayahuasca is considered potent, visionary, and profound. It works in the limbic system (the hypothalamus, amygdala, hippocampus, prefrontal cortex, and others), the parts of the brain that work together to process memory, emotions, and stress responses. This medicine, served under the responsibility, respect, love and awareness required, makes for an experience of deep healing.
