Why Peru?
It is important to firstly recognize the logical reasons that back our statement in the title of this blog post: “Peru – The Best Place For An Ayahuasca Retreat”, and we will do this by briefly expaining why Seven chooses to operate in Peru. Please fear not, this will not be a purely logistical and boring post. Bare with us, further into this blog we will get into some interesting facts about Peru, Cusco and The Sacred Valley making for an inticing and easy read (at least that’s what I hope…).
Seven Retreats is located in The Sacred Valley, Cusco, Peru. This strategic location allows Seven to operate in one of the home countries of both Ayahuasca and Huachuma – for Seven, staying in the medicines home country is an essential way to preserve integrity, tradition, medicine quality and benefits sharing with the local communities.
All of the plant medicines served at Seven are legal and recognized as traditional plant medicines and National Cultural Heritage in Peru which is paramount for the safety of our guests and staff and allows Seven to operate as a transparent, legal entity in Peru.
Makes sense right? Now that the clear logic is out of the way, let’s celebrate Peru and all of its wonders!
Peru - A World Renowned Destination
Peru is a country of historical, cultural and geographical treasures. A well deserved destination point for aspiring tourists from all over the world.
Being the heart of the greatest empire in the American Content – The Incan Empire – showcasing some of the most impressive and mysterious archeological sites in the world, scattered throughout the entire country. Hosting significant pre-Incan cultures like the Chavin and Chachapoya. For individuals with passion for human history, Peru is an undeniable jewel.
Peru’s culture is rich, diverse, colourful, inviting, kind and very wise. Easefully sustaining traditions, agricultural practices, astronomical understanding, and strong spiritual beliefs. From the Amazon to the High Andes and the desserts and costs, Peru’s culture holds a wealth of living human history – an inspiration and example for all nations.
Peru is a geographic powerhouse. Hosting a great portion of the largest tropical rainforest in the world – The Amazon Rainforest – the lungs of the earth, the pharmacy for humanity, the home of the jaguar, the home to over 100 uncontacted tribes, tied together by massive river systems, a forest so grandiose that it holds 10% of all known species on Earth.
West of the Amazon, running down the spine of the country, are the magnificent Andes Mountains. Reaching peaks of over 6,700 meters above sea level, we find terrains mankind is yet to walk upon. Glacial lakes, condors, the home of the puma. The Peruvian Andes hold a wealth of fresh water, precious metals and fertile soils. The rivers carve deep, lush valleys through the towering mountains – creating habitats, horizons and a quality of life that facilitates abundance, health and peace.
East of the Pacific Ocean, stretching along the western edge of the country, Peru’s coast and deserts reveal another extraordinary face of its geography. Here, one of the driest deserts on Earth meets one of the richest oceans on the planet. The cold Humboldt Current nourishes the Peruvian sea with an abundance of marine life, supporting fisheries, coastal communities, seabirds, sea lions, and ancient ways of life that have depended on the ocean for thousands of years. The deserts and coasts of Peru hold some of the country’s oldest cultural footprints – from sacred temples and geoglyphs to ancient cities and ceremonial centers – proving that even in the harshest environments, human creativity, discipline, and spiritual vision can flourish. Together, the Amazon, the Andes, and the Pacific coast make Peru not just a destination, but a complete world of living geography, ancient memory, and human possibility.
Cusco/Sacred Valley - The Home of Seven
Cusco is a region in the southern Peruvian Andes. The region of Cusco holds famous landmarks like Machu Picchu, Cusco city and the Sacred Valley. The land is diverse and rich. From enormous glacial peaks to lush, semi tropical high rain forest zones known for its pristine quality of unique tropical fruits, coffee and cacao. The City of Cusco is the capital of this vast region. A city of great historical importance. Built on megalithic Incan foundations and mesmerizing spanish architecture, Cusco city, the ancient Incan capital is a world renowned destination point for mankind going back to even precolonial times in the American continent.
The Sacred Valley is a fertile valley inhabited by humans for millennia, scattered with ancient ruins, both incan and pre incan. These archaeological sites are both megalithic, massive, famous, and widely visited, as well as small, mysterious, remote and unpopular.
Within this valley you find views of the dramatic Andes everywhere you look. A night sky like no other. Filled with culture, local indigenous communities produce organic varieties of native potatoes, corn, fruits, vegetables, ethically raised livestock and farm fresh eggs. Everything you need for a healthy diet is at your fingertips, produced in your neighbours back yard. Monsanto – nowhere in sight. The valley of health, peace, abundance, and growth. The home of Seven, the spiritual healing center.
Conclusion
Now that we have very briefly recognized some of Peru’s incredible features and addressed the obvious logic backing why we operate in Peru here at Seven, I hope that you lovely readers are not only more inspired to visit this wonderful nation, but also now understand why it’s always best to come to Ayahuascas’ home country to spend time with her. She is very busy and does not like to leave home! Plus, I think we can all agree that operating within the confinements of the law is very important!
